Vining Out
Well, with all the rain we are finally getting things are starting to come along in the garden. The carrots and beets are further behind than I would care for, but they're finally showing up.
The section of pumpkin patch that was newly tilled in the fall has, of course, become a mess of grass, but I'm slowly managing that as well. The larger pumpkin plants are starting to vine out and they'll be showing some male flowers soon enough. Each plant is getting a layer of straw for mulch around the bases and I'm excited to see how everything shapes up.
The melon row is hit and miss. The cantaloupes all seem to be doing quite well, but the watermelons are lagging behind a bit for my liking, but we'll see how it goes. The melon row is also getting a layer of straw mulch as well.
