Fly By

It's hard to believe it's already August. I haven't a clue how many pumpkins are in the patch because of all the vines and leaves, but it seems like there are plenty of potential babies popping up every day. The first pumpkins that were hand pollinated are already carving size, and on in particular seems to be ahead of them all.  

August is actually bittersweet when you think about it. Everything is at it's most exciting, you start to enjoy the fruits and vegetables you waited for, and at the same time...it's the beginning of the end of garden season. Yes, things start to ripen and it's exciting, but it goes by in a flash and you know it's going to end soon enough. 

At least there's everything wonderful about fall to look forward to...
